Get the look: Red and white bliss

This guest was spotted looking simple yet sophisticated at Indian photographer and photojournalist Raghu Rai’s art exhibition in Mumbai this week. Carrying off this red and white jumpsuit with the perfect accessories, this lady’s got everything working for her.

Make-up

This guest looks smouldering hot with her dark eye shadow, pink blush and nude pink lips. You could achieve a similar look by blending Mac’s carbon black eye shadow (Rs1,000) with any grey eye shadow, Maybelline mascara Colossal (Rs1,000) Rimmel blush in Santa Rosa (Rs800) and Color Studio’s Runway (Rs550) with any clear gloss on top.

Accessories

While we absolutely love the belt and chunky bangles, we wish she had dressed up the jumpsuit with simple earrings or a statement necklace. The bangles just do not do enough justice to her look.  The grey envelope clutch keeps the look casual. For a similar one, check out Fashion ComPassion at The House of Ensemble or Debenhams (Rs4,000).

Hair

She tied her brown hair up in a high pony tail, which looks easy enough. However, she could have aimed at making it a little tidier; uneven crowns in a pony tail just take away the fun! Get it right and it’s the perfect solution for a bad hair day.

Let your skin glow

While you spruce up your home and shop till you drop, don’t forget to spend some time on yourself too. When the weather gets cooler, people often forget to drink water. Drink at least eight glasses of water every day.

During the winter, your skin gets dry and dull, which means moisturising is essential. Consuming greasy, fried foods promote breakouts and dull skin –limit the intake if you can’t resist.

Sangeeta Amladi, head of medical services at Kaya Skin Clinic in India, doles out some handy tips on how to make homemade face packs or masks; a natural way to get smooth, supple and glowing skin.

For oily skin

Tomato mask

Mash up a ripe tomato and leave it on your face for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water and feel the difference immediately

13 killed in strong Myanmar quake

The shallow 6.8-magnitude quake struck in a rural area 116 kilometres north of Mandalay and was followed by strong aftershocks, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

Four labourers flung into the Irrawaddy river from a partly-built bridge near the town of Shwebo, north of Mandalay and nearer to the epicentre of the quake, were among those believed to have died, according to a situation report from Save the Children.

The collapse of a monastery in the nearby village of Kyauk Myaung killed two people and one died in Mandalay, it said. A further six were killed in Sint Ku township, including two people who died when a gold mine collapsed.

“People everywhere are very worried that another earthquake might strike,” the aid organisation said

Residents of Mandalay fled shaking buildings in terror, although no major damage was reported there.

Chris Gayle Can visit Pakistan

West Indian cricketer Chris Gayle and former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar are really good friends. So good, that when the former happens to be in the neighbourhood, the idea of taking a ‘short flight’ to chill with his buddy sounds like a pretty good one.

The Jamaican tweeted on Thursday that he intends to visit Pakistan on November 9 and spend the day ‘chilling’ with the Rawalpindi Express.
